Target Group
The Methods Consulta/on is aimed at bachelor’s and master’s students in Psychology who
require support in working with R. It aids with technical and methodological questions,
particularly in connection with statistical analyses, data preparation, and the presentation of
results.
Requests related to seminar papers, examinations, as well as bachelor’s and master’s theses
are also welcome. The academic supervision of theses remains the responsibility of the
respective supervisor; the Methods Consultation provides complementary support on a
methodological level.
Services Offered
The Methods Consultation provides practical support for specific questions related to working with R.
- Technical foundations: installation, start up and update issues, basic error diagnostics
- Data handling & preparation: data import, recoding, structuring, handling missing values
- Statistical analyses: e.g., descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, regression analyses, as well as EFA, CFA and cluster analyses
- Conceptual & methodological questions: choice of analysis, power analyses, study design
- Visualization & presentation of results
- Scientific practice & orientation: e.g., Open Science, reproducibility, Quarto

- Statistics tutoring or continuous learning support
- Complete solutions without independent work
- Highly complex or specialized statistical modeling
Conditions
- Cost: The service is free of charge.
- Duration: The consultation session lasts a maximum of 90 minutes.
- Appointments: First come, first served (no entitlement to an appointment).
- Software: Focus on R (including RStudio and Quarto).
- Theses: The supervisor remains the primary point of contact.
- Preparations: Requests are submitted in advance via the registration form; relevant materials shuuld be prepared and brought to the session.
- Responsibility: Advice is provided to the best of our knowledge, but without guarantee. Responsibility for implementation lies with the students.
