Target Group
The methods consultation is intended for BA and MA psychology students who feel unsure
about working with R and need support with their first steps – for example with technical
problems, data preparation, basic statistical analyses, or questions about Open Science.
Services Offered
- Technical Basics: Installation, basic troubleshooting, RStudio issues
- Conceptual Consultation: Selection of analysis methods, power analyses, handling
missing data
- Data Handling & Management: Data import, preparation, organization
- Analyses & Visualization: Descriptive statistics, correlations, ANOVA, t-tests,
regressions, visualizations
- Scientific Practice: Introduction to Open Science practices, codebook, Quarto,
preregistration
Not Offered
- Tutoring in statistics or ongoing learning support
- Complete solutions without independent work
Conditions
- Initiative: Try it yourself first, then use the consultation.
- Appointments: First come, first served – no guaranteed spot.
- Duration: Maximum of 90 minutes per consultation.
- Software: Focus on R (including RStudio & Quarto); Jamovi only to a limited extent.
- Theses: The supervisor remains the first point of contact – the consultation provides
complementary support.
- Preparation: Bring materials (datasets, scripts, questions) in an organized form.
- Own Responsibility: Advice is given to the best of knowledge, but without guarantee.
